Welcome to Cooley's Kitchen

Edit: as of August 10, 2009, this blog is on indefinite hiatus. I may do a post hear and there (?), and may revive it on a weekly basis at some future time, but for now, there's just too much to do, with too little time. This blog doesn't presently fit my time budget.

I'm a practical guy. Even so, I appreciate finer things. And while nothing is more practical than food, there are times when nothing can be finer. It's practical, and yet it's artful, playing with four of the five senses, touch (texture), taste, sight, and smell. Even hearing gets some play from the knife on the cutting board or when the outdoor grill flares and sizzles. But as art, it needn't be uppity. It can be fun and lighthearted. While at it's heart food is practical, it can also be joyful to prepare, taste, and serve. Cooley's Kitchen is here for quick tips, mouth watering pics, and to generally help you have an all around good time in the kitchen.

Within the week things will be up and running, at a full easy stride, with two to three posts a week. See you again soon.

These are subject to change, so do come back again to get the latest word.

Except within the following guidelines, do kindly refrain from "borrowing" any content from Cooley's Kitchen, whether the content is written, photographed, or illustrated.

Stealing isn't nice. And it makes me want to stick habaneros in your oatmeal. When you're not looking. So please note that all material at Cooley's Kitchen is copyrighted and may not be used in any way except under the following conditions. Some third party material is contained with the posts of this blog, including legally permissible excerpts as part of reviews, or otherwise legally used excerpts according the terms of use given by the respective authors of third party content. Your use of any such third party content is subject to the respective author's permission and/or other legal considerations.

For original content at Cooley's Kitchen, please use no more than excerpts of 250 words or less, and always, always provide attribution and a link back to the original source. Entire articles are not allowed to be used.

Regarding original images seen here at Cooley's Kitchen, you may not use them. That's it. Not at all. Unless, of course, you receive prior permission. Just contact me. For third party imagery which I use with permission or otherwise use legally, you are subject to the legal requirements for their use.

Recipes, as a stand alone list of ingredients, are a bit of an iffy area as far as copyright goes. So, regarding any original recipe content from this blog, that is, the ingredient lists, I'll not say "you can't touch this," but I would appreciate greatly any link backs if you do use such recipes for any of your own purposes. For any other content related to the recipe, such as images, or descriptions, etc., these are copyrighted, and therefore are subject to the terms herein. If the recipe is not original, but from a third party, it will be noted, and whatever copyright that may apply to that recipe remains intact.

There are plenty of options for coming after those who do steal my stuff, and I intend to make use of such means if the time comes. It's not a fun thing to be on the receiving end of such punitive measures, not to mention the feelings of guilt and shame and low self-worth you're likely to incur, so really, it's just not worth it.

Thanks for understanding.

So, no one's asked me any questions yet. But when they do, this will be the place the most frequently asked ones come to. In the meantime, I just might make up some questions, anticipating your queries. But for now, this is just a placeholder. Stay tuned.
